Student Representation

An important component of many students’ college experience is the ability to either participate in decisions that affect the entire student body, or simply to know that they are represented by students who are invested in improving the quality of student life.  Undergraduate students are represented by the Student Association, which has two parts—the Student Association General Assembly (SAGA), and the Student Fee Allocation Board (SFAB). In addition to the Student Association, undergraduate students also participate in and benefit from the Program Board, which is the primary student programming organization on campus. Graduate students are represented by the Graduate Student Association.

We recognize that students have varying needs depending in part upon their class standing. Freshman students typically aren’t the same as seniors, nor do they need the same things from the university. Each undergraduate class is represented by a Class Council, consisting of elected SAGA, SFAB and Program Board representatives. OCA staff will engage each Class Council in dialogue to ensure that the needs of each respective class are being met and will help each class find the resources to assist students through their undergraduate career.

Both the Student Association and the Graduate Student Association exist to enhance the student experience.  All students are encouraged to get to know those who represent them, to learn about the processes of these organizations and to feel invited to participate in an active way in making decisions that affect all students.
