Position Descriptions

Campus Activities - Graduate Assistant

This position has been filled for Fall 2011

Assist department professional staff in coordination of events and services offered by the Office of Campus Activities. Responsibilities may include assistance with major events such as Fall Fiesta, Homecoming, Light the Season, Student Leadership Recognition Celebration, Emerging Leaders, Commencement, and Multicultural Programs. In addition responsibilities may include assistance in areas of student organization services, multicultural student development, student staff supervision, and leadership development. Final responsibilities will be determined based on candidate’s experiences and interests.

Candidates should have experience managing large and small scale programs, great communication skills (oral and written), good initiative, and creativity.

Residence Life - Community Development Assistant

These positions are been filled for Fall 2011

The Community Development Assistant (CDA) is responsible for assisting the Area Coordinator (a full-time, live-in Residence Life professional staff member) in administering the residential program for an on-campus residential neighborhood consisting of first-year students. This student position includes primarily educational, managerial, and administrative functions that provide an environment conducive to good scholarship, intellectual stimulation and social development.  The CDA will work in a Residence Hall Office (RHO) up to 19 hours per week, this position does require late night and weekend commitments.

Housing Services - Assistant Assignments Coordinator

This position has been filled for Fall 2011

The Assistant Assignments Coordinator assists the Assignments and Marketing Coordinator in the management of assignments, cancelations, early arrivals, late stays, room selection, billing inquiries, and marketing of university housing spaces while providing support to the university community through fulfilling daily operational needs. This includes addressing questions and resolving assignment-related issues for students, parents, and administrators.

Assistance will be needed for critical residential transition periods; these include the weekend before classes begin for the Fall semester and the day after Commencement in May.

Housing Services - Student Operations Coordinator

The Student Operations Coordinator assists the Assistant Director in the overall management of the student Operations Crew (Truck Crew) and daily operations needs. This includes the identification and remediation of concerns, utilizing crisis intervention skills while serving as a resource person for students, parents, administrators, and vendors. In addition the Coordinator will compile data and disseminate reports concerning the HS aspects of residential auxiliary operations.

Assistance will be needed for critical residential transition periods; these include the weekend before classes begin for the Fall semester and the day after Commencement in May.

Housing Services - Off-Campus Housing Coordinator

This position has been filled for Fall 2011

The Off-Campus Housing Coordinator assists the Associate Director in the overall management of the Off-Campus Housing (OCH) program. This includes coordinating online resources and services such as near-campus and off-campus property listings, offering and promoting campus-wide programs and services to upper-class and graduate students seeking near-campus and off-campus housing, managing the OCH Resource Center, and serving as a resource person for students, parents, administrators, landlords, and local community members. In addition the Coordinator will compile data and disseminate reports related to OCH and the CUA community.

Conferences & Pryzbyla Management - Events and Operations Specialist

This position has been filled for Fall 2011

The Events and Operations Specialist works with CPM staff to plan for and execute events in the Pryzbyla Center as well as assist with the day to day operation of the facility.  These responsibilities include:

•    Directing student staff on duty to ensure the successful delivery of event setup services in the Pryzbyla Center and other campus spaces as necessary
•    Working with requestors of space in the Pryzbyla Center to confirm reservations, help plan their events (including room layout and AV needs)
•    Utilizing the university’s scheduling software, CollegeNet’s Resource25, to input event details and resources.
•    Creating setup diagrams for events utilizing MS Visio and other software as needed
•    Coordinating the follow-up of requested maintenance performed in the Pryzbyla Center
•    Being on site for critical university events to help oversee their successful execution, this may require evening or weekend hours
•    Following established university policies and procedures
•    Performing other duties as assigned by the CPM professional staff

Student Conduct & Ethical Development - Graduate Coordinator(s)

This position has been filled for Fall 2011

The Student Conduct and Ethical Development program is tasked with addressing behavior inconsistent with the values and functioning of the university. 

Graduate Coordinators assist in all functions of the program, but are typically sought to focus on one of four core responsibilities depending on abilities.  These include:  disciplinary conferences (meeting with students allegedly involved in minor infractions), intake meetings (serving as a resource to and source of challenge & support for students facing eviction/suspension/expulsion hearings), sanction tracking (monitoring and facilitating the completion of assignments), or programming (developing programs, publications, and social marketing campaigns).

All Graduate Coordinators may be asked to participate in  the review and investigation of incidents, conduct research projects and prepare reports and other written materials, or perform administrative duties including data entry, filing, typing and other office-related responsibilities.  Coordinators will establish regular office hours in the range of 9-19 hours paced throughout the work week.

Campus Ministry - Graduate Assistant for DC Reads

This position has been filled for Fall 2011

Assist the Associate Campus Minister for Community Service in fostering opportunities for education and integration through service of the Catholic Church's vision of social justice. Primary responsibility is coordinating and managing the University's Community Tutoring & Literacy Program: DC Reads. Duties include supervising and training student leaders, communicating with local schools and community partner organizations, event planning, general administrative work, and continuing education.
