Welcome to CUA!! We’re glad that you chose to join our community as you embark on this new phase in your life. You doubtless will be faced with wonderful opportunities and challenges over the next four years. Along with many other departments and resources on campus, the staff of the Office of Campus Activities is happy to offer you these tips to get you started on your journey at CUA. Most of all, we look forward to you finding your niche, making new friends and, most of all, GETTING CONNECTED!
- Congratulations to the recently elected members of SAGA, SFAB, and Program Board. They are: Peter Cipriano (SAGA), Armaine Decastro (SAGA), Brian Dougherty (SAGA), Peggy Moore (Program Board), Sarah Morris (SAGA), Peter Rescigno (SAGA), Hannah Rose Robinson (SAGA), Molly Thompson (SFAB), and Maxwell Woodger (SAGA).
- Get into the holiday spirit on December 4--it's Light the Season, CUA's Christmas Tree lighting. There will be music, refreshments, and a visit from Santa! Starts at 5pm on December 4 on the third floor of the Pryz.
- The CUA Presidential Search Committee wants your input! Go to the Presidential Search Web site to fill out a survey, and also to see who is responsible for selecting the next president of CUA!

Also, get ready for CUA Chopped! Nothing like a little friendly competition in the kitchen to get things going! OCA is working with Dining Services to put together a Food Network-inspired event that will give you a chance to display your culinary talents or cheer on your classmates.

Do you know the names of your orientation adviser, resident assistant, and resident minister?? No? Why not?! They don’t bite, and are all there to help you in your transition to college.
- You’ve already signed up for Alert DC, right? If not, do it now!!

Get to know your professors and advisers—they are interested in helping you succeed (and they don’t bite either).

You were a leader in high school, right?! Why not be a leader at CUA? There are many wonderful opportunities for you to connect to leadership opportunities across campus and throughout the year—seek them out, or ask student life staff about opportunities that might be right for you.

Don’t forget to take care of yourself—eat right, get some sleep, and give yourself a chance to adjust. If you run into roadblocks, ask for help. There are many resources available to you, including Student Health Services, the Counseling Center, Dean of Students, your OA, RA, and RM. All these folks wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for you!
